To improve the socioeconomic conditions and living standards of the people and to increase employment and income generating opportunities, especially for women and youth, Meebha is presently working on skill training and income-generating opportunities for marginalized women artisans and youths. Meeebha planned to address this concern by “upgrading the skills training system into a comprehensive, integrated and efficient training system incorporating the establishment of skills standards and certification as well as income-generating activities for women and school dropouts.
Meebha present work in livelihood enhancement is very limited and is informed by livelihood assessment exercise conducted for tribal women in concerned districts of Uttar Pradesh The Livelihoods Initiative contributes towards strengthening livelihood opportunities of small and marginal farmers, landless labourers and empowering women’s nonfarm enterprises to benefit from markets. Meebha focuses on strengthening partner community’s organizational capabilities and enables them to evolve strategies for livelihood enhancement. Meebha approach for this purpose include developing organizational and mutual collaboration of people having common livelihoods needs and interests and come up with effective models of cooperation for livelihood enhancement at local level.
